Hey lovelies! I’ve always been a drugstore girl when it comes to makeup, my thoughts are ‘why spend £30 on a bottle of foundation when you can get one for £10 which does just as good a job?’ However, eyeshadow palettes are one of the only high-end products I let myself indulge in far too often, I have a few drugstore ones but I much prefer my high-end palettes!
I have two of the Naked palettes from Urban Decay, the first one I ever bought was Naked Smoky before I discovered my love for warm toned shadows so I don’t reach for this very often anymore as the colours just aren’t for me, I do want to try and use this more though as it has some really nice shades!
The other Urban Decay palette I have is Naked Heat, the shades in this are much more suited to the type of eyeshadow looks I go for! The colours are absolutely beautiful and they are so pigmented I really love this palette!
Anastasia Beverly Hills
Modern Renaissance was the first ever high-end eyeshadow palette I bought alongside Naked Smoky on my trip to Vegas last January and it is definitely what started my love of eyeshadow palettes! I adore the shade range in this palette, it definitely lives up to the hype and the pigmentation is probably the best I have ever seen!
Because I love Modern Renaissance so much, when Subculture was launched I impulse bought it on release date and then immediately regretted it. I do not agree that it is as terrible as all the ‘beauty gurus’ were making out, however as pretty as the shades are they just aren’t wearable for me so I hardly ever reach for this palette! I tried to recreate a look using the blue tones before that I’d seen on Youtube and my fiancé told me I looked like I’d been punched a few times.. so yeah this palette was disappointing for me!
I think Morphe prices are quite reasonable considering they are more of a ‘high-end’ brand! I have quite a few palettes from them as I don’t think you can go wrong for the price! The first Morphe palette I ever got was 35P and it is still one of my favourites as I love purple toned eye looks!
I also have 35F which has some gorgeous shades in but I wish it had more mattes and less shimmers, there are only 7 matte shades and the rest are shimmer. As I don’t wear shimmer shades that often it just doesn’t get as much use as I’d like!
I impulse bought 35U when some of the Morphe palettes were restocked on Beauty Bay when they were a lot harder to get hold of and this is probably my least used palette, again due to the fact they are all shimmer shades!
My other Morphe palettes which I absolutely love are 25A – Copper Spice, 15N – Night Master and the Jaclyn Hill Palette! I really love the 15N palette as it is perfect for travelling, it has a large mirror and has a range of shades so you can create a few different looks with it! I want to get the 15D as well as I think if you took these two palettes travelling you wouldn’t need anything else to create more than enough eye looks to last a week or two!
I have heard such great things about the Violet Voss shadows and I really wanted to try one of their palettes! The Holy Grail palette is really raved about by lots of beauty Youtubers but when I looked at the shades in it there was nothing that stood out to me that I haven’t already got in other palettes I own so I thought I’d give it a miss!
When Beauty Bay dropped the #Hashtag palette I knew this was the perfect palette for me to test out their shadows as well as having something a little more versatile in my collection! I’m still yet to try this palette but the shade range is so beautiful! The purple shadows really stand out but there are also more neutral shades meaning you could create an everyday look or an intense look depending on what you wanted to go for!
I have two NYX palettes, they are both from their ‘Ultimate Shadows’ collection. I have the ‘brights’ palette which has some amazing colours in it, I cannot wait to play around with this more and try to create a sunset eye! The other one I have is the ‘smokey and highlight’ palette which has some purple and grey toned shades in it, I don’t tend to reach for this palette anymore as I have ones which I much prefer but the quality is still good!
I also read that the NYX Ultimate Shadows palette in ‘Warm Neutrals’ is a dupe for the Naked Heat palette so if you were looking for a cheaper alternative to that you may want to try the NYX one!
I only own three Makeup Revolution palettes but their quality and pigmentation is so good that I probably will invest in more in the future! The three I currently have are the Re-Loaded palette in ‘Iconic Division’ which I duped against Subculture, you can read that post here. The Flawless 4 palette which you can see a review of here and the Soph x Makeup Revolution collab by ‘Sophdoesnails’.
When Makeup Obsession launched in Boots I fell in love with the idea of being able to create your own palette as the shades are completely your choice and can be a mixture of whatever you love! I have two of the Makeup Obsession create your own palettes a 12 shade one and a 6 shade one both of which are full with eyeshadows! They are brilliant quality for how cheap they are and they served me well before I fell in love with high-end palettes! The Makeup Obsession highlighters are also really good quality if you’re looking for a new one to try!
As you can see I don’t have the biggest collection in the world but I do own quite a few palettes. In fact, when I came to take photos for this post I realised I might have a bit of a problem… however, they are my most loved makeup item although I don’t get to use them as much as I’d like to! There are definitely still more I would love to add to my collection as well!
What’s your favourite palette you own? If there are any you’d like to see reviews of or would like me to try and create a look with let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do!
