Hey lovelies! Sorry it’s been a while since I posted but quick life update: I’ve had hardly any motivation recently I’ve been super busy at work and then I’ve been trying to fit in my runs three times a week so by the time I get home and I’ve eaten I’m usually too exhausted to write. Then we had that awesome weather for a few days which was great but I spent too much time enjoying it and not enough time writing. I’m sure all of you enjoyed the sunshine though as everyone seemed to be in the same boat as me in that their blog stats really suffered which also made me lose even more motivation! Hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of things soon though and I have some really good posts planned so stay tuned! Also:
THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR 500 FOLLOWERS! It means the absolute world to me that I have 500 of you that are interested in my posts and read them! 500 was my goal for the whole of 2018 so having hit that already I’m super proud and I feel so overwhelmed so thank you all again from the bottom of my heart I love you all!
Anyway let’s get into the review!
If you saw my New In Beauty Haul you’d have seen that I finally picked up one of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks to try! I’d been eyeing up the lilac coloured one for a while but had heard mixed reviews about the formula so didn’t know whether to risk it. This wasn’t the colour I picked up in the end as they didn’t have it in stock but
spoiler alert I’ll definitely be picking up some more of these!
The colour I have is ’65 Seductress’ but there are at least 18 different shades to choose from!
The applicator with these liquid lipsticks is one of those new arrow shaped things, you know the ones I mean right? I didn’t think this would make a difference to the application but I absolutely loved it! Sometimes I feel like the product clings to doe foot applicators so I often end up putting too much on my lips and making a mess, this didn’t happen with this!
The applicator allows you to pick up just enough product to cover your lips and I felt like the application was a lot easier as the wand is more precise which meant it was a lot less messy around my cupids bow.
When you first apply the liquid lipstick it feels super comfortable and quite moisturising, it does dry down to completely matte but it didn’t crack at all even when I forgot to use my lip scrub/lip balm before application!
I was really happy with the formula of this! Usually after a few hours liquid lipsticks start to feel super drying on my lips and when I remove them my lips are really chapped but I didn’t experience any problems with this one!
I know these liquid lipsticks are called ‘Superstay’ but my god I did not expect the results I got! They are amazing! I applied this at around 7pm just before I went out for the evening. I didn’t eat anything with this on but I did have a few drinks, I got home around 12.30am so it had been on for a good 5 and a half hours and it was still perfectly in tact. I hadn’t reapplied this product once throughout the night and it still looked as good as new!
I have a confession…
I didn’t take off my makeup before I went to sleep I know I’m disgusting right? I was just so tired that I really couldn’t be bothered, sorry!
But the point is, even in the morning I still had some of this lipstick on proving that the longevity of it is amazing! Also even in the morning I didn’t have chapped lips which just proves how good and moisturising the formula is!
My final thoughts on this liquid lipstick? I LOVE it! I was really dubious about these as at £9.99 they are at the top end of the price range for drugstore products but they are definitely worth it! These are probably my all time favourite drugstore liquid lipstick formula I’ve tried and if you get them when they’re on offer (usually 3 for 2 or buy one get one half price) they work out at even better value! I’ll probably be reaching for this over some of my high-end liquid lipsticks so they are definitely worth the money!
5 out of 5 stars from me!
Have you tried any of these liquid lipsticks? Let me know your thoughts and what your favourite shade is if you have!
