L’Oreal Les Chocolats Liquid Lipstick Review

Hey lovelies! So recently I’ve been seeing posts by some of the biggest beauty influencers about these new chocolate scented liquid lipsticks from L’Oreal, if you know me you’ll know how much I love chocolate and liquid lipsticks are my favourite type of lip product to wear so I knew I had to test them out!

The whole range is called ‘Les Chocolats’ ultra matte liquid lipsticks and so far there are 12 shades available. They are mainly nude shades and I’m sure there is one to suit every skin tone from a pale nude to a pinky nude all the way to a dark chocolate brown shade, there is also a bright red thrown into the range too.

You can already tell how popular these products have been because every time I’ve popped into my local Boots/Superdrug to pick some up they’ve had hardly any left on the shelves and one shop didn’t have any at all. So far I’ve managed to pick up two shades but I’m hoping they bring out a wider range of colours in these.

Swatches & Applicator

As you can see from the swatches shade ‘842 – Candyman’ is a real pink toned nude colour which I am absolutely in love with, I wore this a few days ago and couldn’t get over how nice it was! The second shade I picked up is ‘852 – Box of Chocolates’ which is a more brown toned nude but still gorgeous.

The applicator on these liquid lipsticks reminds me of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink one, it’s an arrow shape which makes it easier to apply the product around your cupid’s bow as you can be a lot more precise than with some other applicators. I found this product super easy to apply using this applicator, I much prefer these to the regular doe foot applicators found in most products.

Formula & Longevity

When you first open these lipsticks I won’t lie the smell of chocolate is quite strong straight away so if you don’t like scented products then you should definitely stay away from them. However, I absolutely loved the smell and when it came to applying the product the smell was just as strong, it literally smelled like I was applying melted chocolate as a lipstick but hey I’m not complaining!

The problem I have found with some drugstore liquid lipsticks is how drying they can be on the lips, even some of my favourites do become drying towards the end of the day but L’oreal seem to have cracked the formula to the perfect liquid lipstick with these and I think they may be my new drugstore favourite!

The formula of this liquid lipstick is quite thick, they’re super pigmented so you only need one or two layers and you’re ready to go. They do take a few minutes to dry down and although they do dry down completely they don’t feel super matte on the lips at all, Candy Man felt super comfortable whereas Box of Chocolates is a little bit more sticky like a gloss would be but I’d rather that than dry lips!

I didn’t experience any problems with these transferring and the longevity is amazing! I had this liquid lipstick on for around 7 hours, I’d even ate dinner with it on and when I came to take off my makeup at the end of the day it still didn’t look like it needed topping up!

Overall Verdict

I’d give these liquid lipsticks a solid 9.5/10! I wore an ABH liquid lipstick the day after I wore one of these and that needed topping up after a couple of hours whereas these lasted all day so I’d definitely recommend them if you have a busy lifestyle and don’t have time to be topping up your lipstick every couple of hours!

I LOVE everything about these, the scent, the applicator and the formula! I really hope L’oreal bring out a huge shade range in these because honestly? I won’t ever need another liquid lipstick in my life if I can just wear these forever!

Have you picked any of these up yet? Will you be picking one up after reading my review? Let me know in the comments!
