Violet Voss Hashtag Palette Review

Hey lovelies! I had a Beauty Bay voucher for Christmas last year and in the January when the new Violet Voss Hashtag palette dropped I decided to get that. Since then it’s been sat in my drawer and I hadn’t used it at all; so I finally decided to get it out and give it a go so I could write a review for you guys!

I’d seen all the amazing reviews of the Violet Voss Holy Grail and Ride or Die palettes and I knew I wanted to test out their formula. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to actually use this palette, spoiler alert: IT’S AMAZING!

Review

I LOVE the shade range in this palette, the top three rows are full of warm toned shadows which if you read my blog regularly you’ll know are my favourite type of shades. The final row has the most gorgeous purple shades I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to use them all!

The palette has 7 matte shades, and 13 shimmers, I’d usually prefer to have more matte shades in a palette but the shimmers in this are so gorgeous that it doesn’t bother me!

The matte shades don’t seem to swatch very well but don’t let that put you off because they work wonderfully on the eyes! I’ve heard people say that eyeshadows are ‘creamy’ before, I’ve probably even used that saying myself but I’ve never tried a creamier matte formula than this, they applied beautifully and they were so pigmented! Both the matte and shimmer shadows blended seamlessly together and were easily buildable.

The formula of these shadows reminded me a little of the Anastasia Beverly Hills formula but these have hardly any kickback in the pan and no fallout when applying them to the eyes which is always a bonus!

The palette also comes with quite a large mirror, for me this isn’t a deal breaker as I hardly ever use the mirrors in a palette preferring to use the one on my vanity but I know this is a great benefit to some people and it makes it good for travelling!

Eyeshadow Look

I couldn’t decide what kind of look to create with this palette because I love all of the shades so much which is probably why it took me so long to use it; I finally came up with an eyeshadow look that I’m really happy with though!

I used ‘Savage’ as my transition shade and then blended ‘TBT’ into my crease. After cutting my crease with concealer I added the shimmer shade ‘Petty AF’ to my inner and outer corner and then applied ‘Living’ to the middle of my lid. I then blended ‘Savage’ and ‘TBT’ under my eyes and applied ‘Petty AF’ to the outer half of my under eye and ‘Living’ to the inner half.

This was the finished look and I LOVE it!

Overall Verdict

The Violet Voss Hashtag palette comes in at £43 which is quite pricey and I probably wouldn’t have got it if I didn’t have the Beauty Bay voucher but I’m so glad I did! The formula of the shadows is amazing and I’d give this palette a strong 9/10 if not 10! I can’t find any faults with it yet!

I’ll definitely be using this palette more in the future so let me know if you want me to do more eyeshadow look posts with it!

Have you tried any Violet Voss shadows? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Yep, it’s quite pricey but if the quality is up to par with ABH is probably worth the splurge, especially considering the number of shadows in the palette.

Just like you, I prefer a higher proportion of mattes, but these shimmers look so cute. Also, I think there aren’t any shades in the palette that aren’t wearable on a daily basis.

I like the look that you created, it really makes your blue eyes pop 🙂

  2. This palette looks beautiful. I love the range of colours. I especially love the pictures of you wearing the eyeshadow. The eyeshadow really defines your eyes. You look great! I am not great at make up, but reading your blog is helping me improve! You are a great writer, and this was a fantastic post! 😊🌸xxx

  3. I’ve heard amazing things about this brand but have yet to try one of their palettes. I’ve just noticed that this one is reduced in the sale so I’m seriously tempted!

  4. I don’t know if that is a Mickey Mouse Carpet or a Rug but I love it, totally irrelevant to the blog post I know but I couldn’t help but notice it. Oranges and Reds are my favourite colours to look at but I never think they suit my face! I can also never blend them very well together, so I am glad that you think these eyeshadows blend well. I love the look you created though! I am the same, I much prefer mattes then shimmers. I have never tried anything from Violet Voss but I have always wanted to try thier eye shadows, I am glad I read this positive review! xx

  5. My OH bought me the Holy Grail palette for Christmas last year, and I absolutely love it. I do love the Hashtag palette too, but I feel like I wouldn’t use the purple shades on the bottom row, which is why I’ve not purchased.
But maybe I need to bite the bullet and try some new shade’s cause the swatches look AMAZING 😍
