Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn!

Hey lovelies! I don’t know about you but Autumn is my absolute favourite season, yes I know most people live for summer but when you have skin as pale as mine and you can’t sit in the sun for longer than 10 minutes without getting burnt it all seems a bit pointless. That’s why I’m super excited that it’s officially Autumn again! I thought I’d list some of my favourite things about the season, you never know I might convince some of you that it is actually the best.

Chunky Knit Jumpers

I’ve never been one for a summer wardrobe of short shorts and crop tops, I don’t particularly like revealing clothes which is why I adore my autumn/winter wardrobe! Chunky knit jumpers are my absolute favourite thing in the world I love how cosy and warm they are and they literally look good with anything, jeans and some boots for a daytime look or a skirt/pinafore if you want to dress it up a bit more.

I have quite a good selection of autumn/winter clothes so I don’t really need many for this year but I doubt that will stop me buying them! New Look have some beautiful tartan skirts in at the minute which I’ve been eyeing up; they’ll look so good with some tights and boots and Primark obviously do the best jumpers in the world! You can’t beat affordable fashion!

I Can Finally Wear Boots Again

I must be one of the only girls in the world who isn’t a big fan of wearing sandals, I haven’t owned a pair of jelly shoes since I was about 6 and I don’t think I’ll ever purchase a pair of sliders especially ones with fur across them eurgh! I tolerate sandals for the hottest summer days and when I go abroad but you’ll usually see me rocking my Converse throughout the warmer months which is why I’m so glad it’s finally cool enough to get my boots back out!

Over the past few months I’ve treated myself to two pairs of Dr Martens which are both stunning so I can’t wait to start wearing those as well as some of my favourite purchases from last year!

Duvet Days

In the summer duvet days don’t happen very frequently because I feel like I’m wasting the day lying in bed doing nothing when I could be out supposedly ‘enjoying’ the weather. When Autumn rolls around and the Great British weather treats us to rain almost every day this is the perfect excuse to stay tucked up in bed binge watching Netflix because obviously you can’t go out in the rain unless it’s to get snacks for whilst you’re 10 episodes deep into the latest TV series right?!

Bonfire Night

I feel like this post is full of unpopular opinions and please don’t hate me but I’ve never got the hype over Halloween, when I was younger I never went trick or treating and although I’ve been to a couple of Halloween parties over the years it’s never really bothered me (I’m sure if I went to Disney while they have their decorations up I’d completely change my mind as it always looks amazing!) but I much prefer Bonfire Night!

I love getting wrapped up in a big coat and a huge scarf to go and watch a firework display, you can’t beat getting yourself a hot chocolate to keep warm whilst watching the beautiful fireworks light up the sky. Obviously nothing will ever beat Disney fireworks but it’s still one of my favourite nights of the year!

Oh and while we’re on the topic of fires, we got a log burner last year in our living room and curling up in front of that with a good book is also one of the best ways to spend your weekend! I’ll definitely miss that when I move out.

Colour Palette

I’m sure most of you will agree that autumnal colours are the best, I love seeing all the leaves fall off the trees and the beautiful shades of red/orange they are. I literally live for autumnal colours, from the colours in my wardrobe to the shades of makeup I pick. Red, orange, brown, burgundy they’re all SO stunning!

It’s Almost Christmas!!!

Autumn means one thing, we’re one step closer to Christmas! As I’m writing this it’s officially the first day of Autumn and the shops already have some of their Christmas gift sets in. Don’t get me wrong even I think this is a bit early, I think they should wait until October at least as people get sick of seeing/hearing about Christmas and it kind of takes away from the magic of it all but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy having a good look at all the different sets on offer this year!

Christmas is my absolute favourite day of the year ever, from the feeling of pure joy you get when you wake up on Christmas morning, to opening all your presents, seeing people’s faces when they open what you got them and obviously Christmas dinner. I don’t understand how people don’t like Christmas to me it’s amazing and this year I’m looking forward to it even more as we get to experience Christmas in Disneyland Paris at the start of December so I’ll definitely be in the Christmas spirit after that!

Honourable Mention:

We can finally light candles again and I’m so ready to get all my Christmas scented candles back out!

That’s all for this post lovelies, hopefully I’ll be doing lots of Autumn themed content over the next few weeks. Let me know what your favourite thing about Autumn is in the comments!

  1. To be honest i love all seasons for different reasons and i do love autumn but i just dont like the change that like a few days ago i wore a top and a jacket and then now ive got my winter coat out! I also find that i dont really change my makeup colours or styles when the seasons change, i’m all round colour kind of girl! But i do love wearing boots again, i actually got my first pair of docs the other day and im so excited to wear them! I love yours especially the glittery ones!

I am a huge halloween fan – it’s always been my favorite holiday becaus efor thay one day you can be anything you want but I get the preference for bonfires and other autumn activities too. Theres nothing quite like a fall evening by the fire!

  5. Oh my gosh, that “duvet days” point is so relatable. Sometimes I really can’t be bothered doing anything but lying in bed however when it’s sunny outside, I feel obliged to get up and go outside. This is such a great list!

  6. Jess, I love the changing colors of the leaves in autumn in my area! I used to enjoy trick or treating when I was younger. (All that delish candy!) Now, that I am MUCH older, I don’t do that anymore, and have had a steady decline in my interest of Halloween.

  7. These are all my favourite things too! Cosy knit jumpers here I come 🙂 duvet days in front of the fire, yes please 🙂
chritmas I’m already so excited for, not gonna lie haha 🙂

  8. Ahh this was a lovely post! Have to admit, I’m more of a Spring/Summer person but there are still some elements of Autumn/Winter that I love – pretty much most of what you’ve listed to be honest! You’re right about New Look, I actually got 2 great skirts from there earlier today! Bonfire Night is lovely but being a big fan of horror films, Halloween nudges it out for me. Disney in December sounds like it’ll be amazing, bet you can’t wait 😁

  9. I’m one of those who prefers the warmth of summer. For me anything under 90 (and recently even at 90) and I start shivering like crazy, so once fall comes, I feel like I’m dying. Plus my body aches all over as it gets cooler.

  10. I’m excited for everything that autumn brings, includes being able to wear legit boots! Oh man, I am 100% on board with the autumn colors this season! Yellow is so trendy – surprisingly, it’s not that hard to pair outfits. YESSS the best part about autumn is that it’s the gateway to Christmas!

  11. This post just got me even more excited for Autumn! The cold weather is just barely starting to get to where I live and it cannot come fast enough. I feel like I’m melting during the summer and autumn brings all of my favorite things ❤

  12. I’m having a bit of a duvet morning on the couch before uni, and I’m so happy that I can do this again!! I love them, I feel so cosy and happy wrapped up in my duvet. I agree with absolutely everything in this post – I’m so ready to get all my jumpers back out (I especially can’t wait to get my Christmas ones out) and I’m so happy when I’m out walking because all the leaves are turning orange and red, and everything just looks so beautiful. Ahhh I’m so excited for Autumn!

  13. What a great post. I hadn’t really thought of it like this. I am not the biggest fan of this time of year as I don’t like the darker mornings and evenings but when you switch that to thinking of chunky jumpers, bonfire night and being able to wear boots again it changes the perspective. Thankyou for sharing 🙂

  14. I’m exactly the same with Halloween and bonfire night! I’ve never been out trick and treating… Definitely can’t wait for Christmas and I’ve already started with the blankets and candles haha

  15. Hi there, loving Autumn. I too have been inspired by the season. I’ve posted a couple of guides for fashion styles and best buy for bags. Pop by at and let me know what you think. Thx BW

  16. Oh my gosh, Your Dr Martins are absolutely adorable. I’ve always wanted a pair but never got round to getting myself some, I feel like because I’m small, they might make me look a little smaller…

P.s; your blog is absolutely stunning – the colour theme and logo is just to die for!

    1. I got my flower pair in the sale online not long back and they were such a bargain, I’d definitely recommend waiting until some you like are in the sale for your first pair incase you don’t like them as they can be pricey! Thankyou so much lovely it means a lot! x

  17. Yes, yes, yes to all these things! Autumn is definitely my favourite time of year. I’m looking forward to getting out my chunky knit wear and have already been wearing my favourite boots.
