Decluttering My Makeup Collection

Hey lovelies! My makeup collection has needed decluttering for the longest time, I keep buying new products to test for you guys but then I never get rid of anything and my drawers were starting to look a mess so I decided to have a little sort out.

I’ll be honest I hate throwing away makeup that I haven’t finished using because I see it as a waste of money but lets face it, if I’ve tested something and I didn’t like it then I’m probably not going to use it again so it’s just going to sit in my drawer forever.

I still have a lot of eyeshadow palettes that I could declutter but I’m going to try and use some of them more often and if they still don’t get used then maybe I’ll do another declutter later in the year!

Base Products

I have an absolute tonne of foundations in my drawer but instead of throwing them out I’m going to be starting a new project soon to use them up so keep your eyes peeled for that because I’ll be keeping you all updated on here.

I tested the Barry M All Night Long Foundation when it was released last year, here’s the review if you’re interested but basically I didn’t get along with it much so I’ve decided to throw it out. I’m also throwing out the L’Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation because it’s too orange and way too thick for me.

These two Collection Lasting Perfection Concealers are going purely because they’re the shade ‘1 Fair’ and now that they do an ‘Extra Fair’ I don’t use these. The Maybelline Super Stay 24 Powder is another product which is WAY too orange for me.

Finally the Barry M Liquid Highlighter I just can’t make work for me and as much as I love the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge I never use this pink one because it’s a weird shape.

Eye Products

It kills me to get rid of so many eye products but they don’t get used so I don’t see the point in keeping them. The first palette is the Revolution Flawless 4 which I reviewed here. I did like this palette but I just never use it because I have ones which I like more. The other palette I’m throwing is the Rimmel Magnifeyes Smokey, I’ve only used this once and I didn’t get on with the shadows at all!

No matter how many times I try to apply false lashes I can never get them right, I bought these Primark ones to try as they were cheap so I thought it didn’t matter if I can’t get them on and guess what? I still couldn’t do it so I’m officially giving up with fake lashes!

There are a lot of brow products here that I’m decluttering because they’re powder or pencil and I prefer pomade now. The Revolution Pomade has to go as I’ve had it so long that it’s dried out and the Revolution Pro Brow Cushion I tested in this post and hated!

The final product in this picture is a black gel liner from NYX which I bought in an attempt to conquer winged liner, I also bought an angled brush which is pictured below but these products didn’t help me and I still can’t do a good winged liner so they’re going too!

Mascara & Lips

The Seventeen – Va Va Voom Mascara was my favourite mascara for years and I couldn’t tell you how many times I repurchased this but unfortunately Boots have discontinued it now and this one is empty so it has to go.

I’ve tested the Rimmel Wonderfully Real Mascara and it didn’t do a lot for my lashes so I never find myself reaching for it, although there is probably still at least half a tube of mascara here there’s no point keeping it.

These three lip products I’m decluttering due to the fact the shades don’t work for me, I really wanted to try a grey lipstick but this looks horrible, it would probably only work for Halloween makeup looks. If you read my blog regularly you’ll know I feel like I can’t pull off a red lip so that’s going and the final one is from Collection in the shade China Rose, I used to wear this religiously but it’s so old now that it’s no good.

The final thing I’ve thrown out is this NYX Brow Mascara, I wish I’d bought a darker shade in this because it is a good product but it’s just way too light for my eyebrows unfortunately!

That’s it for this post, I think I’ve done quite well to throw out so many products! Surely I can use this as an excuse to buy new makeup?? I’m sure my Fiancé wouldn’t agree haha!
