Revolution Pro Foundation Drops Review

Hey lovelies! It feels like FOREVER since I’ve written a foundation review for you all so I’m super excited for this one! I’ve actually had the Revolution Pro Foundation Drops in my drawer since before Christmas but I’ve only just got around to testing them out. I’ll be doing a full review of the foundation and the ‘foundation drop brush’ which was released to go with these foundation drops so let’s get into it!

Packaging & Applicator

Like most Revolution Beauty products, these foundation drops come in pretty simple packaging, with a clear cylinder shaped bottle which helps to showcase the colour of the foundation and a black screw top lid, you don’t really need much more from a foundation bottle do you?

One thing that really annoys me about this foundation is the ‘applicator’, I absolutely hate pipette applicators, I’m really not one for dropping the product straight onto my face like we see Beauty Youtubers doing all the time, I’d much prefer a normal pump on the bottle but I suppose we can’t have everything we want…

The packaging is pretty small which means it would be good for travelling but that’s probably because you only get 18ml of product compared to the 30ml you usually get in a foundation!

Revolution Pro Liquid Drop Foundation Brush

When I picked up this foundation from Superdrug they had some sort of promotion on where if you spent more than a certain amount you got this foundation brush free, I thought why not test it out when I was getting the drops anyway and that is what it’s made for.

I applied the foundation to half of my face using my usual Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and half using this brush. I think the idea of the brush is great, you drop the foundation straight onto it meaning you have no mess on the back of your hand and then apply it to you face BUT I did not get on with this at all.

Although the brush applied the foundation evenly, it didn’t blend nicely at all, I was left with horrible brush lines all over my face so I had to go over it with my sponge anyway. Definitely would not recommend the brush.

Consistency and Application

This foundation is quite runny, but that didn’t really bother me. The consistency of a foundation isn’t ever an issue as long as it applies well and this one definitely does!

These are the claims on the Revolution website: ‘In 18 skin-true shades, this ultra lightweight, water-based formula creates an undetectable finish on all skin tones. Use a few drops for a sheer wash of colour or layer up to build natural looking medium coverage.’

I’ve used two to three drops of this foundation each time I’ve applied it and blended it out with my usual sponge as mentioned above, it is quick and easy to blend giving an even finish across my whole face.

I’m usually a full coverage kind of girl when it comes to foundation, this is definitely not that but it doesn’t claim to be so that’s ok and it’s buildable to a very good medium coverage without ever looking cakey!

Longevity

Only having a medium coverage I was worried about the longevity of this foundation as I thought it may rub off quicker than some of the other foundations I love but I had nothing to worry about!

I wore this foundation for almost 12 hours on one day and it didn’t start to wear off until at least 8 hours after applying it and even then you could only really tell around my nose area which is where any foundation I wear always tends to break up first. Don’t get me wrong my skin didn’t look as flawless as when I first applied the product but it still looked pretty good.

This foundation really stood the test of time for me!

Overall Thoughts

Overall I think I’d give this foundation a strong 7.5/10! It’s not my favourite foundation I’ve ever tried as like I mentioned I usually go for more full coverage. This also gave a very dewy finish whereas I’d usually go for matte but it pleasantly surprised me and I’ll definitely be using it a lot in the future!

Coming in at £7 it’s quite cheap for a good foundation but when you consider that you only get 18ml compared to the usual 30ml it isn’t actually much better value for money but it is still worth the price in my opinion!

The Revolution Pro Foundation Drops will be amazing in the summer months for fresh face makeup days and for those of you who like a natural makeup look for work this would be perfect because it’s guaranteed to still look good by the end of your shift!

Have you tried this foundation before? If you have let me know your thoughts in the comments!

  1. I love this foundation, but I have very dry skin and like lighter coverage so that’s no surprise 😂. The brush sounds awful, is that supposed to be their version of the Bare Minerals one? And I drop it on the back of my hand and put it on my face from there. I couldn’t drop it straight on my face, I don’t know how they do it!! x

  2. I can’t believe this foundation only contains 18ml of product, makes it good for travel but really that isn’t going last long. I must admit I didn’t even know this foundation existed, everyone seems to talk about the Conceal & Define Foundation. I remember reading about the Conceal & Define Foundation on your blog, how would you say the two compare? and which would be your favourite out of the two? By the way great review, this is very indepth and you’ve actually made me think about trying this closer to Summer.

  3. This sounds like a great foundation for the summer, it looks so natural and great on you! I’m not sure I could get used to that style of applicator but I like that it is affordable and lasts a long time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jess, great review as always and gorgeous pics! ❤ xx
