Disneyland Paris Trip Report – Day Two

Hey lovelies! Welcome to my trip report from our second day in Disneyland Paris, if you missed my first day report you can check it out hereThis was our first full day in the park so I couldn’t wait to get up and get to the parks for a whole day experiencing the magic!

Extra Magic Hours

When staying in a Disneyland Paris hotel you get the chance to experience ‘Extra Magic Hours’ in the park, this is an hour where only hotel guests are allowed in before the park is open to the general public. You should really make use out of these if you stay in a Disney hotel as you can walk straight onto rides which would otherwise have a 60-90 minute wait and meet some amazing characters.

Just as we were walking into the park, Donald Duck was just walking out to his meet and greet spot, there was no-one waiting to see him so we walked straight up and were his first meet of the day. I always love meeting Donald he’s so adorable and the interactions are always great.

After we’d met Donald we decided to do a couple of rides, we first went on Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast as there was no queue and we love this ride and then we headed into Fantasyland to ride Peter Pan’s Flight and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups. Peter Pan’s Flight is a must do in Extra Magic Hours as the queues can get ridiculous for it and it’s a really beautiful ride. Spinning rides like the teacups would usually make me feel sick but I like the fact you have a wheel on these so you can spin it however fast (or slow in my case) you like.

We then headed to the ‘Market House Deli’ to grab some breakfast, we got a Pain Au Chocolat, a bottle of water and a hot chocolate for about €7 so it’s well worth it if you’re on a budget!

There were a lot of Disney Bloggers in Disneyland Paris while we were there because of the Mickey 90 Annual Pass Party and just after breakfast while we were walking through the castle we bumped into Lottie who blogs at lottiedoes and who made my amazing Winnie The Pooh ears!

Advent Calendar Ceremony

Just after park opening there was an ‘advent calendar’ ceremony as we were in Disneyland in December, I really wanted to see one of these as it was a chance to see a character in a different outfit. Goofy was helping out with the ceremony on this day and he looked so festive and cute in his outfit I mean come on just look at him!

The ceremony was nothing special, just opening the big calendar to see what was going to be on offer that day but it was worth watching just to see the Goofball himself!

Once the Advent Calendar was finished we walked to Big Thunder to get ourselves a Fastpass for later in the day and then we started queuing to meet Baloo. Baloo was one of the best characters I saw throughout the trip, whilst queuing we were watching his interactions with other guests and he was so happy, dancing with them and playing games, it was really special! This is my favourite picture from our meet, he proposed to me!

Walt Disney Studios Park

After meeting Baloo it was time for our Big Thunder Mountain Fastpass but unfortunately the ride was experiencing some technical difficulties so we were told we could go back and use the Fastpass anytime that day when it was up and running again.

With not much else to do in Disneyland Park for the rest of the morning we decided to go to Walt Disney Studios Park and ride one of our other favourites ‘Crush’s Coaster’. The queues can be over two hours for this some days but I think we queued about 45 minutes which isn’t too bad at all. We had a wander around the shops in this park and then headed back to Disneyland Park as we’d planned on eating at Hakuna Matata for lunch.

Hakuna is one of my favourite restaurants in Disneyland Paris, the food is SO nice but I’ll be doing a whole post on my favourite places to eat so look out for that in the future!

Merry Stitchmas

After having lunch, Big Thunder was finally back open and we had a bit of time to kill before the next showing of Merry Stitchmas so we decided to use our fastpasses. I love this ride so much and I could have gone on it at least 5 times each day and still never got bored!

We then walked over to the Castle Stage to watch Merry Stitchmas for the first time, it was one of my favourite shows we saw over the Christmas season across both parks, it was really good and had a lot of different characters in it! I’d definitely recommend seeing this show if they bring it back next Christmas!

Princess Pavilion

Rapunzel was meeting in the Princess Pavilion on this day and although I’d worn my Merida bound instead of my Rapunzel bound (I didn’t know when I chose my outfit for the day) I still really wanted to meet her. The queue was two hours long and I knew Ash didn’t want to wait so he’s an absolute angel for queuing with me bless him but it really was worth it! Rapunzel was lovely and she really took her time to talk to us instead of it being a ‘love and shove’ interaction to get the queues down quicker. She also loved my ears from ImagineEarsUK

After meeting Punzie we then walked around a few more shops whilst waiting for Illuminations, because we’d seen it the night before and I wasn’t that impressed with it we watched from further down Main Street away from the castle so that we could get out of the park easier when it finished.

Neither of us were particularly hungry after our big meal in Hakuna for lunch so we just decided to get an Earl of Sandwich for tea on the way back to the hotel. This restaurant will probably feature in another post too as the food in here is delicious!

That was the end of our second day in the parks, again we walked back to our hotel instead of trying to squeeze onto a bus and I spent the night watching videos on my phone from the Annual Pass Party that I was missing out on!

Look out for another trip report soon!

  1. I’m so jealous you met Baloo! I tried to meet him once but by the time I’d got to them, they were gone! I need to make extra use of the extra magic hours on my next visit (whenever that will be!) because I’ve stayed in a Disney hotel every time but never used them!

I’ve never really made a point of meeting LOADS of characters I just want to go on as many rides as possible! And I always go during term-time to avoid the queues. We were walking straight on to Space Mountain and when I went over New Years once, the queues for that ride were literally 4 hours long!

  2. Disney is such a special place! I’ve only been once when I was a teenager but I still consider it a magical experience. I love all the Christmas outfits the characters are wearing they look so festive! It’s also good to hear the Rapunzel character was interacting with people, I can imagine it be easy for the characters to try and get through the crowd quickly.
This was a great post it sounds as if you had a fun filled day!

  4. Oh I love DIsney posts! I went November 2017 fo the first time and it is just so magical! The only downside is that my boyfriend doesn’t like any kind of big ride so we did the more gentle ones and met quite a few characters! We didn’t have tickets to the Studios either so that is a must for next time! Great post and pics!!

  5. The extra magic hours sound so good! I went to Disneyland when I was twelve with the school but we had less than a day there so I barely went on anything because of queue times. I’d love to go properly and stay in the hotel like you did! Great pictures too!x

  7. Peter Pan’s Flight is one of my favourite Disneyland rides. I’m the same! Spinning rides always make me feel a little sick afterwards. I wish I had gone on the teacups when I had the chance though! It’s such an iconic Disneyland ride. I love all the pictures you got with different characters!

  10. I’m so jealous you got to stay at the Disneyland hotel:) It looked like such a fun experience to stay there. The lines in the park can be exhausting so the extra hour in the morning is fantastic. We had our best meal at the Coco restaurant:) loved this post, it brought back great memories.

  12. Baloo! I remember meeting him when I first went to Disneyland Paris for their 5th anniversary! I’m hoping to meet some characters when I go in May and Eeyore is top of my list. I’ve never stayed in one of the park hotels so haven’t experienced Extra Magic Hours before, thanks for explaining what it is. I’ll probably use it for the bigger rollercoasters that tend to have crazy long queue times! I’m with you on the Hakuna Matata restaurant, it’s my favourite.
