Hey lovelies! I’ve got yet another beauty product review for you today, so I thought I’d switch it up a bit and do a comparison post instead of a standard review. I purchased the Benefit ‘Magical Brow Stars’ set from Boots just after Christmas and I think I paid around £33 for it in the sale which was a bargain considering you get 5 full size products and an eyebrow brush. I’d never tried any Benefit brow products before purchasing this but I know how well loved they are throughout the beauty community so I couldn’t wait to start testing them!
In this post I’m going to be reviewing the Benefit ‘Ka Brow’ which is a pomade style product to the ‘Foolproof Brow Powder’ which clearly from the name is powder rather than pomade. I’m usually a pomade girl myself but I wanted to give all of the products in this set a fair test.
Ka Brow Review
So ‘Ka Brow’ would set you back £21.50 for a full size product or £11 for a mini one. On the Benefit website the product claims are ‘Brush on rich, buildable colour! This all-in-one eyebrow cream-gel easily fills, sculpts and defines brows. Plus the built-in hard-angled brush magically converts to a full-size brush for precise control & effortless application!’
I’ve seen a lot of beauty Youtubers talk about this product so I was really excited to use it and I wasn’t disappointed! The brush that comes with the product is quite small and I simply used the brush rather than fitting it into the product lid but I still found it pretty easy to use.
Ka Brow is a very thick product so a little bit really does go a long way, I do agree with the claims on the website though as I found it super easy to apply. It went on so smoothly and brushed out easily, the gel is very pigmented and for this reason I definitely think it’s for those of you who prefer a bolder brow because of how thick it is.
Overall I really enjoyed using this product, it didn’t fade at all during the day even after going out in the rain and my brows still looked the same when I came to remove my make up so I’d definitely use it again!
Foolproof Brow Powder
Benefit ‘Foolproof brow powder’ comes in at the same price as Ka Brow costing you £21.50 but as far as I could see they don’t offer a mini version of this product. The claims on the website for this product are ‘Get foolproof fullness and a soft, natural look with foolproof brow powder. This velvety smooth, 12-hour* formula instantly adheres to hair & skin transforming sparse brows into full-looking brows. The light-to-dark shade mimics the gradual look of natural brows and the eyebrow-shaped pan makes it super easy to apply… no harsh lines or mistakes!’
I loved the idea of this product having two different coloured powders, a darker one for the tail or your brows and then a lighter one for the middle. Again this product didn’t disappoint me and I agree with the claims, the eyebrow-shaped pan did make it really easy to use.
I used the Benefit Brow Brush to apply this product rather than the applicator that comes in with it but I still found it really easy to apply this powder to fill in my patchy brows. The product applied quickly but I did struggle a little to fill in the front of my brow where they’re more sparse with this .
If you’re looking for a product that will give you a natural brow for everyday wear and something you can throw on in the mornings when you’re in a rush then this product is definitely for you!
So… Ka Brow or Foolproof Brow Powder?
Ka Brow on the right.
Foolproof Brow Powder on the left.
I think you can already tell from these pictures that Ka Brow is definitely much bolder than the powder. Although I did like both of these products, if I was going to repurchase one of them it would probably be Ka Brow. Don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed using the Foolproof Brow Powder, it was a lot easier to apply than some other eyebrow powders I’ve used in the past but I don’t tend to wear makeup every day so when I do I like a bolder brow which is easier to achieve using Ka Brow.
Honestly, it all depends on what you’re looking for in a product though. They were both easy to apply and they cost exactly the same so it’s just down to personal preference! For a bold look go with Ka Brow, for a more natural look get the powder. Either way they’re both great products and I can totally see why so many people love them!
Please let me know if you’ve enjoyed this post as I have both of the brow pencils from Benefit so I could do a post comparing them if you’ve liked this one!
Have you tried either of these products? Let me know your thoughts on them in the comments!
